Young drivers given the green light to continue driving education

Amid the mass backlog for driving tests, budding young motorists are honing their driving skills with leading driving experience provider, TrackDays.co.uk, giving them a head start before they can even legally learn to drive on the public road.

DVSA figures uncovered that due to restrictions of the last 18 months owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the year ending March 2021 saw only 437,352 practical tests conducted in Great Britain, representing a 72.7% slump compared to year ending March 2020.

This has led to a surge in bookings for TrackDays.co.uk’s Young Driver Experiences among 10 to 17 year olds.

Such is the popularity of these packages, TrackDays.co.uk’s booking data revealed that its 60 and 30 Minute Young Driver Experiences are its biggest selling offerings for 2021 to date.

Dan Jones, operations manager at TrackDays.co.uk, commented:

“Our driving experiences provide an invaluable opportunity for young people who are in the midst of, or expect to be met with, the dreaded backlog.

“Youngsters can build confidence and experience under the watchful eye of a fully qualified instructor on a road system which reflects UK roads, including junctions, roundabouts and road signs.”

But it’s not just older teenagers who have the chance to get behind the wheel, with the 30 and 60 Minute Driving Experiences offered to children as young as 10.

Meanwhile, those aged 5 upwards aren’t left out either, with TrackDays.co.uk’s special 20 Minute lessons in Firefly, a fully electric two-seater car with independent suspension, disc brakes and pinion steering handles.

Dan added:

“It can be challenging to find fun, and educational experiences for children to get stuck into. But with our range of Young Driver Experiences, children as young as five can get behind the wheel in a safe environment, giving them the confidence and skills to be accomplished drivers in the future.”
